Murder Mystery Theater

The Joseph High School Thespians are now in rehearsal for their 13th annual audience participatory murder mystery dinner theater to be held at Wallowa Lake Lodge on January 30th and 31st, 2009. Guests are encouraged to dress appropriately for the occasion, so dig out your best 1950’s finery. As the guests check in, they are given a name and an identity of someone who is related to one of the main characters. They are given an opportunity to search for clues, question the suspects, and try to guess who the murderers are. Once the play begins, a Hostess guides the guests through the murder, mystery, and mayhem that ensues.

The year is 1958, and Milltown High is holding their homecoming dance at the Lodge following an overwhelming victory by their football team–the Ironmen—against their cross-town rivals the Homer High Pigeons. Miss Cranston, the principal, is in charge and her military background serves her well! Lennie Lewis and Randi Rawls are the chairmen of the Homecoming Committee and oversee the events. The decorations are in place and photographer Ron Osterloh has been hired to take pictures of the Homecoming Couples. Bella Boop is there with her greaser boyfriend Vinnie Vaughan. Madeline Rolfe and James John Morrison Dupree, students at the elite and private Hilltop Academy, crash the party because they want to be elected Homecoming King and Queen. Patti Primper must find a date to be considered as a candidate for Queen. But, honestly, who would date her? Then tragedy strikes, the police are summoned, and the guests find themselves in the middle of a murder investigation.

Seating is limited and reservations are required. Contact Wallowa Lake Lodge at 541-432-9821 or at wallowalakelodge.com. The cost of the complete dinner is $35 per person and includes gratuity and a $7 donation to the JHS Thespian Troupe. Overnight lodging/dinner theater packages are also available.
